Andy Madadian has been called the 'Persian Elvis'

 

International pop singer Andy Madadian and actress/singer Shani Rigsbee have been scheduled for a rare San Antonio visit.

On May 4, the duo are performing together at Arjon's International Club.

The Los Angeles-based, Iranian-born Andy has been called the Persian Elvis for his string-drenched, rock/pop flavored dance music. Madadian also sang a duet with the late Colombian-American singer-songwriter Soraya, on a song called "Cerca del Corazon" that was part of the 2002 "Mondo Platinum" CD that featured several other world artists including George Dalaras, Notis Sfakianakis, Cheb Mami, Hakim and Alannah Myles. Madadian is a prolific artist who sings in English, Spanish, Farsi, and other languages.

 

Both Madadian and Shani Rigsbee are veterans of several world tours that have included the U.S., Europe,

Australia and the Middle East-Central Asia. And both singers are actors whose credits include the Academy Award-winning movies "House of Sand and Fog" and "Crash."Madadian'slatest CD is titled "City of Angels," while Risgbee's latest is the 15-track "At The Casbah."

Recent acclaim for the duo include Daily Variety which reported, "singing mostly in English, her (Shani) high-pitched modal vocals could easily rub shoulders with Madonna, Shakira and Pink." L.A. Weekly reported, "(Andy) is the ultimate supreme superstar from a country where pop music is officially banned." The Los Angeles Times said "Shani is an intriguing and unusual example of the Middle Eastern music's push into American markets ...(with) no heritage links to the east."
